Oval Cut Diamond Engagement Ring
About This Design
The oval cut has quietly become one of the most-requested engagement ring shapes of the last several years, and it’s not hard to see why. The cut combines the brilliance of a round diamond with a softly stretched silhouette, no points to chip, no pronounced corners to wear, just an elongated rounded shape that elongates the finger and reads larger than its actual carat weight.
Solitaire Oval sets the stone vertically along the finger, the traditional north-south orientation, and holds it with six prongs arranged in pairs at the top, sides, and bottom of the stone. The shank stays smooth and polished from end to end. No pavé, no halo, no decorative detailing on the band, just a clean tapered shape that meets the basket beneath the diamond.
Of all the minimalist solitaires in this collection, Solitaire Oval is the most contemporary in feel. It’s the design for someone who wants a fully classic engagement ring that still reads as current rather than traditional.

Pricing & Timeline
Because every piece is handcrafted to your specifications, pricing depends on your chosen diamond, metal, and design details. Your consultation will include a clear, itemized quote before you commit.
Production typically takes 4 to 6 weeks after final approval.
A note on sizing: pricing may also vary with ring size, as gold weight changes accordingly. For designs with side stones, the total number of stones and total carat weight may vary based on size. Please also note that, depending on the style, some rings cannot be resized after they’re made. Your designer will walk you through this before the design is finalized.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why have oval diamonds become so popular? Oval cuts hit a sweet spot between classic and modern. They have the brilliance of a round, the elongated finger-flattering effect of a marquise, and none of the fragility concerns that come with pointed shapes. They’ve been particularly popular among buyers in their late twenties through forties for the past several years.
What’s the “bow-tie effect” in oval diamonds? A bow-tie is a dark area that runs across the center of an oval diamond, caused by the way light enters certain proportions of the cut. Better-cut ovals minimize the bow-tie significantly. Your designer can guide you toward stones with minimal bow-tie during selection.
Do oval diamonds look bigger than rounds? Yes, generally. An oval diamond has a larger surface area per carat than a round, meaning it appears visually larger from the top. A 1-carat oval can read closer to a 1.2-carat round in size on the finger.
Do you offer lab-grown diamonds? Yes, we work with both lab-grown and natural diamonds. Your designer can walk you through the differences in price, sourcing, and certification to help you choose what fits your priorities.
How long does it take to make Solitaire Oval? Typically 4 to 6 weeks from final design approval to delivery.
