Round Brilliant Diamond Engagement Ring
About This Design
This is the original. The round brilliant cut, with its 57 facets engineered to maximize light return, has been the dominant engagement ring shape for more than a century, and there’s a reason it hasn’t been displaced. No other cut returns light as completely, and no other shape has the same instant recognizability as a symbol of commitment.
Solitaire Round presents that cut in its purest setting. Six prongs, arranged evenly around the stone in the configuration first popularized in 1886, lift the diamond clear of the band so light can enter from every angle and exit through the table at the top. The shank is smooth, polished, and uninterrupted, no pavé, no halo, no decorative basket, no accent stones. The center diamond carries the entire design.
Some engagement rings make a statement through detail. Solitaire Round makes its statement through restraint. For someone whose taste runs to the timeless, this is the silhouette that’s been the standard for a reason.

Pricing & Timeline
Because every piece is handcrafted to your specifications, pricing depends on your chosen diamond, metal, and design details. Your consultation will include a clear, itemized quote before you commit.
Production typically takes 4 to 6 weeks after final approval.
A note on sizing: pricing may also vary with ring size, as gold weight changes accordingly. For designs with side stones, the total number of stones and total carat weight may vary based on size. Please also note that, depending on the style, some rings cannot be resized after they’re made. Your designer will walk you through this before the design is finalized.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the round brilliant cut sparkle more than other shapes? The round brilliant was specifically engineered, mathematically, in the early 20th century to maximize light return. Its 57 facets are angled to capture light entering the stone, reflect it internally, and return it through the top table. No other cut has been as deliberately optimized for brilliance.
Is six-prong or four-prong better for a round diamond? Six-prong settings are more secure, with extra contact points around the stone, and they reveal slightly less of the diamond. Four-prong settings show more of the stone but provide less security. Both are widely used; the choice is mostly aesthetic.
Why are round diamonds more expensive than other shapes? Round brilliants typically cost 20 to 30% more per carat than fancy shapes (ovals, cushions, pears, etc.) because the cutting process wastes more rough diamond, the demand for round cuts is the highest of any shape, and pricing reflects both factors.
Do you offer lab-grown diamonds? Yes, we work with both lab-grown and natural diamonds. Your designer can walk you through the differences in price, sourcing, and certification to help you choose what fits your priorities.
How long does it take to make Solitaire Round? Typically 4 to 6 weeks from final design approval to delivery.
