Marquise Engagement Ring with Hidden Halo
About This Design
This version of Solitaire Marquise pairs one of the most distinctive diamond cuts in fine jewelry with one of the most-requested modern details. A marquise-cut center diamond, long, pointed at both ends, with brilliance that maximizes the perception of size, lies horizontally across the finger in an east-west orientation, drawing the eye outward across the hand. Four prongs hold the stone, single prongs at each pointed tip where the stone is most vulnerable, and one prong on each side anchoring the wider center.
Beneath the diamond, a hidden halo of pavé-set stones wraps around the base of the marquise, visible only from the profile view. The detail is invisible from above, the ring reads as a clean east-west solitaire from the top, but turn the ring slightly and the halo reveals itself, adding sparkle from an unexpected angle and giving the side profile a sense of depth and craftsmanship.
The shank stays smooth and polished, tapering gently toward the back of the finger to keep the center stone as the visual focal point.
It’s a marquise solitaire for someone who wants the boldness of the cut and the elegance of the east-west placement, but with a modern detail that adds something quietly luxurious to the design.

Pricing & Timeline
Because every piece is handcrafted to your specifications, pricing depends on your chosen diamond, metal, and design details. Your consultation will include a clear, itemized quote before you commit.
Production typically takes 4 to 6 weeks after final approval.
A note on sizing: pricing may also vary with ring size, as gold weight changes accordingly. For designs with side stones, the total number of stones and total carat weight may vary based on size. Please also note that, depending on the style, some rings cannot be resized after they’re made. Your designer will walk you through this before the design is finalized.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a hidden halo work with a marquise cut? The hidden halo follows the silhouette of the center stone, so on a marquise it forms an elongated almond shape rather than a round or cushion shape. The pavé wraps around the base of the diamond and is visible from the profile but not from the top, which keeps the marquise’s distinctive shape as the focal point from above.
Are four prongs enough to secure a marquise diamond? Yes. With marquise cuts, the most critical prongs are the ones at the points, where the stone is most vulnerable to chipping. The four-prong configuration places single prongs at each end and one on each side, which provides solid security while keeping the setting visually clean. If maximum security is preferred, the same design can be built with six prongs.
Will the marquise look bigger because of the east-west orientation? The orientation changes how the stone reads on the finger rather than its actual size. An east-west marquise appears wider across the finger and emphasizes the elongated profile in a different way than the traditional vertical placement. Both orientations have advantages, the east-west feels more contemporary.
Do you offer lab-grown diamonds? Yes, we work with both lab-grown and natural diamonds. Your designer can walk you through the differences in price, sourcing, and certification to help you choose what fits your priorities.
How long does it take to make Solitaire Marquise? Typically 4 to 6 weeks from final design approval to delivery.
